HANNAH M MCQUEEN
Sociology PhD Student, North Carolina State University
Hello, and welcome to my site! I am a Sociology PhD student at NC State, Raleigh, North Carolina. My research passions lie at the intersection of finance, regulation, socioeconomic inequality, and rhetoric. I am a self-proclaimed social research methods and data enthusiast.
Below, you'll find information about my research, work and teaching experience, and service.
DISSERTATION RESEARCH
My dissertation research explores the rhetorical strategies, regulatory fields, and political events that influence the dispute resolution process between consumers and financial firms. Using over a million cases from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's online Consumer Complaint database, I use natural language processing and statistical analysis to predict the outcome of disputes. Ultimately, my research illuminates how consumers can better argue their grievances and earn financial justice.
