TEACHING AND MENTORING

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My teaching philosophy is driven by the need for connection between fundamental sociological theories and concepts and the current social problems that we experience. In the classroom, I use a blend of interactive lectures, group projects, visual media, reflective practices, and other methods in order to make this connection explicit. As an instructor, I have the daily opportunity to help my student build the knowledge and skills they need to become good social scientists and informed citizens.

MENTORING PHILOSOPHY

I have had the privilege of being a part of the NCSU Graduate Peer Mentoring Collaborative since May 2018. During that time, I have built lasting connections and provided academic, social, and career-related support to my peers.
